Merwin Special Kids Day 2011
GoPAW is again partnering with Pacific Power and Light and the staff at the Merwin Hatchery to provide this annual event at the Merwin Hatchery, located on the Lewis River in Western Washington.
July 16th is the date and it promises to be yet another great experience for some great Kids!
Merwin Special Kids Day
The Merwin Special Kids' Day event lures Children with disabilities from Doernbecher Children's Hospital, Emanuel Legacy, Kaiser Kids and Shriners hospitals, as well as other special-needs children. Sponsored by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), Pacific Power, GoPAW. The wheelchair-accessible hatchery waters are planted with trout ranging in size from 1 to 9 pounds. Volunteers served as one-on-one fishing coaches assisting youngsters throughout the day. Rods, reels, tackle and T-shirts are provided for the young anglers to use and keep. A free barbecue lunch is served; activities included face painting and storytelling.
